It critiques the prevailing view of neurodivergence as a disability and the resulting power imbalance, and advocates for a shift toward recognising it as a natural variance, explaining how neurotype can be seen as a demographic, with broader implications for intersectionality. The author explores the idea that neurodivergent traits are predominantly controlled by our genes and sets out evidence that different neurotypes have been the norm throughout human history and are likely far more prevalent than we have ever considered.
