Advances in Sociology Research : Volume 38

This volume includes nine chapters that examine recent advancements in sociology research. Chapter One analyzes the evolutionary trend of the theorizing of corruption as a scientific phenomenon. Chapter Two examines innovative environmentally conscious businesses and systems that have arisen in Japan. Chapter Three presents studies that propose generic organizational culture types and criticizes and discusses them. Chapter Four examines the rapid transit system implemented for the 2016 Olympics. Chapter Five examines cross-cultural issues pertaining to end-of-life care. Chapter Six analyzes Trump''s decision to withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership from a neoclassical realism framework. Chapter Seven examines how the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, through international environmental treaties, is attempting to interact with North Korea so that it may embrace and internalize international norms, especially those pertaining to climate change and human rights. Chapter Eight explores how the meaning of construction takes place across audio and visual elements, and how the music video Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson can be interpreted through multiple semiotic resources in an art class lesson. Finally, Chapter Nine identifies issues that can create winning enterprises such as developing an innovative culture, creating a customer-responsive culture, and nurturing workplace spirituality.
