This belief has transitioned from the periphery of religious thought to a more mainstream position, notably within charismatic and Pentecostal ministries that emphasize spiritual deliverance. It furnishes a straightforward, albeit disconcerting, explanation for significant life adversities, including chronic illness, economic hardship, relational discord, and a sense of spiritual oppression. By identifying a concealed adversary and proposing a decisive resolution, it has, for many, become an essential element of spiritual warfare. However, it may be argued that this pervasive belief is predicated on a notion superseded by the New Covenant.
