Arseholes

A razor-sharp, brilliantly observed debut that delves into chaotic relationships, professional ambition, and the compromises we make chasing all the wrong things

We all have one. We all know one. Billie is living a quiet life in Sheffield: working as a life coach, supporting her mum through erratic moments, voicenoting her friends down south until she can see them in person. Quiet is good, though. Two years ago she flamed out of the London comedy circuit in a spectacular fashion, and here she is, life rebuilt and those days long gone. Gone, that is, until a chance meeting at a Christmas party thrusts Billie into the orbit of Ted: charismatic, unexpected and a budding comic. Against all her instincts and the reservations of concerned friends, she is pulled into a relationship with comedy again - and a romance where she was least looking for it. But is it Ted she's attracted to, or the allure of the comedy world she thought she'd turned her back on? And which is the toxic one?At turns hilarious and wry, Arseholes is a book about passion - both romantic and creative, and the confusion of one for the other, perfect for fans of Emma Jane Unsworth, Dolly Alderton and Madeleine Gray.
