This catalog sheds new light on the relationship between modern and contemporary art across generations and genres, focusing on the encounter between the artists featured in two outstanding collections—the Pinakothek der Moderne and the Sammlung Goetz, both located in Munich. Works of art from both collections, as well as from the Stiftung Ann und Jürgen Wilde, enter into a new kind of dialogue that emphasizes the thematic links between Classical Modernism and contemporary art.
