HATFIELD is Mary Ann Smith Professor and Vice Chairman of Chemistry,and Acting Chairman of the Curriculum in Applied Sciences, University of Northcarolina, Chapel Hill. He is the author or coauthor of over 300 publications, andcoeditor, with John H.
