Fourteen-year-old Amardeep is never good enough for her parents. The only things that keep her from spiraling are her best friend, Alex, and rowing practice. But when Alex tattles on her for vaping, Amardeep is kicked off the team.

Determined to prove she’s no dead weight, she focuses on getting skinny — skipping meals, exercising every day, and even purging. While the pounds begin to drop, it’s not enough. Though she’s always hungry, lightheaded, and tired, Amardeep tells herself she’s in control … right up until she blacks out and ends up in a hospital.

In recovery, she befriends Jake, a quadriplegic patient, and reluctantly starts therapy, beginning a long journey of self-discovery and healing. While Amardeep struggles to admit she has an eating disorder at first, with time, she starts to see what a new future could look like if she embraces this second chance at life.
