Although a small number of coach bodies built by continental companies had entered British fleets during the 1970s, deregulation of coach services in 1980 saw a mass influx from across the channel. Vehicles bodied or manufactured by companies such as Van Hool, Neoplan, Caetano Jonckheere, Bova and Setra appeared in fleets up and down the land, introducing levels of luxury previously unseen in everyday coaching.Covering the period from 1970 until 1990, this book starts with those early continental pioneers and travels through the heyday of the continental invasion. With a brief history of each manufacturer and their model range, it contains 180 colour photographs complete with informative captions, and is intended to showcase the best of continental coaches within the fleets of Britain.
