It situates the remake as a gendered response to these changes, drawing on approaches from film theory, gender studies, and cultural studies. The book looks at films from a variety of genres and modes, including the Bollywood family film, romantic comedy, noir, and melodrama, and each film''s close analysis is accompanied by attention to concerns related to remake theory, such as homage, anxiety of influence, defamiliarization, and pastiche.
