Daughters of Blencathra is the story of twin sisters - one an artist, the other a medical student - and their family in the Lake District, following a tragic mountain rescue incident on Blencathra. The book is inspired by, and dedicated to, the volunteers and supporters of the twelve Mountain Rescue Teams in the Lake District.

One step changes everything ... As sisters, Lara and Cara couldn't be more different: Lara, the troubled artist, and Cara, the self-assured medical student. But as twins, they share a special bond, forged on the ridges of Blencathra, the Lake District fell that has shaped their lives since childhood. Tragedy strikes one September morning, when the twins become separated in the drizzling mist at the infamous Bad Step on Sharp Edge, and both their lives are changed forever. Is the bond between them strong enough?To endure the crippling guilt and blame. To hold their shattered family together. To find a new path for themselves and, maybe even ... To find love. The plot contains themes of loss, grief, inner-strength, love and rebuilding. The characters are fictional, but all the mountain settings and other Lake District locations described are authentic, as are the AdventureSmart references.
