Detlef Waschkau : Urban Vibes

The cities of this world furnish an inexhaustible number of impressions and images. Artist Detlef Waschkau has made the city into his subject – as a resident, flâneur and traveller – and placed it centrally in his artistic oeuvre. His works, which oscillate between sculpture and painting, are the result of numerous painterly and sculptural stages that mesh together like cogs during the production process. The title "Urban Vibes" is almost symbolic of timeless vibrations and transformations in urban space. The city turns into a powerhouse of emotions and an anchor point for the people hurrying through its streets. Die Städte dieser Welt bieten eine unerschöpfliche Menge an Eindrücken und Bildern. Der Künstler Detlef Waschkau hat die Stadt zu seinem Thema gemacht – als Bewohner, Flaneur und Reisender – und sie in das Zentrum seiner künstlerischen Arbeit gestellt. Seine Werke, die zwischen Skulptur und Malerei oszillieren, sind das Ergebnis zahlreicher malerischer und plastischer Arbeitsschritte, die während der Produktion wie Zahnräder ineinandergreifen. Der Titel „Urban Vibes" steht nahezu symbolisch für zeitlose Schwingungen und Transformationen im urbanen Raum. Die Stadt wird zum Kraftwerk der Gefühle und Ankerpunkt für durch Straßen eilende Menschen. Waschkau gewinnt mit seinen Arbeiten vollkommen neue Ansichten anscheinend bekannter Orte und wirft gänzlich neue Blicke auf sie: sublim, poetisch und ungeheuer delikat.
