It analyses why despite the victories in the armed struggle leading to the independence of Eritrea, the Eritrean people are yet to experience peaceful and democratic lives. Furthermore, it explores the devastating consequence of the zero-sum politics that prioritizes the views and interests of the leadership over compromise and inclusiveness that advances a common national interest. Mr. Wold''s lived experience in the Eritrean armed struggle remembers and narrates the power struggle in the movement as having been more vicious than the deadly battles against the enemy. Moving forward, the author believes it is still not too late to pull Eritrea back to the right track and provides ideas for progress.
