The series will document the far-reaching changes that have taken place both in migration behavior and in research. Migration is a global phenomenon with lasting consequences for target countries in Europe and North America. Interaction between locals and migrants creates new forms of cultural expression - métissage, mixté, hybridity. Migration, whether voluntary, forced by economic, ecological, social or political conditions or refugee migration / displacement, requires functioning, survival, living in diverse cultural spaces (ie: not international or transnational but transcultural). The target companies also change, both processes influence each other. Exchange processes are examined. Sub-state regional socialization processes, family economies and migration traditions as well as new options influence migration decisions of men, women and sometimes. children; Supra-state economic regions and economic sectors set the framework for destinations. Migrants move in numerous cultural environments at the same time: location, social network of the starting region, economic sector, whether local or global, and future-oriented in the locations of further migrations. Nation-states of the old type only play a border-pulling role, states of the new type offer a policy of admission and integration that is oriented towards overall social objectives. Classic paradigms of migration research, such as migration from a nation state to the corresponding ethno-national enclave of an immigration country, had to be revised. Gender issues (eg: The role of men in displacement, the role of women in securing survival and building networks after migration processes) require special attention. This series publishes studies on migration and acculturation in their diverse, ethnic, diasporic, but above all transcultural manifestations, in German and English with abstracts in the other language.
