Worlds of textiles artistically conveyed This publication presents and documents 26 years of artistic teaching and research at the Textiles Department of the University of Applied Arts Vienna. It provides insight into the diversity of cultural techniques and fields of textile production, into the spaces of reflection in the context of teaching art and into the diversity of practices that artists contribute as teachers. The contributions show how artistic working methods in an educational context inspire and rethink didactic practices. The focus is on the following questions: How can teaching “from art” be understood, and what potential does teaching “from art” open up for educational processes? Textile Welten künstlerisch vermittelt

Die Publikation präsentiert und dokumentiert 26 Jahre künstlerische Lehre und Forschung an der Abteilung Textil der Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien. Sie gibt Einblick in die Mannigfaltigkeit textiler Kulturtechniken und Produktionsfelder, in die Reflexionsräume im Kontext künstlerischer Lehre sowie in die Vielfalt künstlerischer Praxen, die Künstler:innen als Lehrende einbringen.

Die Beiträge zeigen, wie künstlerische Arbeitsweisen im Kontext von Lehren und Lernen didaktische Praxen inspirieren und neu denken lassen. Im Zentrum stehen folgende Fragen: Wie kann „von Kunst aus“ Lehren verstanden werden, und welche Potenziale eröffnet ein Lehren „von Kunst aus“ für Bildungsprozesse? Anhand von Best-Practice-Beispielen werden diese Potenziale erkennbar.
