Great Scenic Bus Routes: Devon

With its rugged coastlines, surfing beaches, wild moorlands and busy tourist hotspots, Devon can justifiably claim to have something for everyone. So, what could be better than having a front seat on a bus to make the most of what it has to offer?

This book features nine bus routes that can aptly be described as ‘Great’ and ‘Scenic’. Starting in Plymouth, they include a trip on a ferry across the River Tamar to the Rame Peninsula, an open-top bus ride along the sea front past Plymouth Hoe, the coastal route from Dartmouth to Kingsbridge, and the two routes that between them cover the entirety of Torbay. In addition, there is a trip onto Dartmoor in the footsteps of ‘Uncle Tom Cobley and all’ and, in North Devon, a 2¾-hour journey from Ilfracombe across the top of Exmoor, with magnificent views both inland and out to sea, which ends near Minehead.
