After his last battle he became commander of the First Jet Squadron, No. 117, began civilian flying as an El Al pilot and eventually moved to the reservist squadron No. 254 Midland Squadron which he ended up commanding. Giora ended his military career with the achievement of being the eldest IAF pilot to fly a F-16, and his flying career as an El Al pilot, age 65.
