Concepts and frameworks that have shaped Asian/American experiences Interventions in Asian/American Rhetoric uses a range of analytical frameworks to address the underlying asymmetric relations of power that feed anti-Asian racism and other systemic oppression. Organized around identity, language, and voice as conceptual spaces that have often shaped Asian/American experiences, this collection highlights discursive work in these spaces to resist violence, reimagine self and community, and respond to exigent circumstances and conditions. This volume presents little-known rhetorical texts and reinterprets well-known ones; it also identifies new spaces that have not previously been recognized as rhetorical. The examples of Asian/American rhetorical practices included in the volume range in time from the nineteenth century to the present and in genre from song and poetry to fiction and exposition, encompassing textbooks, student writing from concentration camps, and works of political advocacy. Together, they offer ways to mobilize commonplaces toward action and to embrace a broad range of possibilities for further interventions. This volume contains discussion of American Revolutionary: The Evolution of Grace Lee Boggs; Frank Chin, The Year of the Dragon; Frank Chin, Jeffery Paul Chan, Lawson Fusao Inada, and Shawn Wong, Aiiieeeee! and The Big Aiiieeeee!; D'Lo, Ramble-Ations, D'FaQTo Life, D'FunQT, and To T, or Not to T?; KC De Leon Guerrero, "Guam USA"; Feeling Asian; Cathy Park Hong, Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning; S. I. Hayakawa, Language in Action; Christine Hyung-Oak Lee, Tell Me Everything You Don't Remember; Rina Sawayama, "Minor Feelings"; Soon-Tek Oh, Tondemonai—Never Happen!; Craig Santos Perez, "(the birth of Guam)"; Sui Sin Far, "Its Wavering Image"; Paul Tran, "Dry Clean"; Triple Jeopardy: Racism, Imperialism, Sexism; Ugly Delicious; Ocean Vuong, On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous; Julie Yip-Williams, The Unwinding of the Miracle.
