Themodelisthenusedtosimulatesyntheticdatausing Rcodethatcloselyre?ectsthemodelde?nitionandthen?ttedtothes- theticdatatorecovertheunderlyingmodelparameters. Finally,themodel is?ttedtoanexamplehistoricaldatasetandappropriatediagnosticplots given. By using R, the whole procedure can be reproduced by the reader, 1 anditisrecommendedthatstudentsworkthroughmostoftheexamples.
