Raising Our Tribal Voice for Justice

The one thing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people note is the lack of knowledge and understanding that exists within non-Indigenous Australia about its First Nations people. We have made numerous attempts to remedy this situation through hosting events, conferences and through our extensive research documenting our epistemology, ontological perspectives for all to access and learn. This means teaching them about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ deep sense of the sacred and a Spirituality that has been nurtured over several millennia. This rich ancient knowledge has mostly been ignored by the West or demonised by the church, and it is critical that non-Indigenous people have an opportunity to gain insights and a greater understanding of our Spiritual beliefs and the significance of our spiritual connection to Country.

We recognise the Creator Spirit as our creator and affirm that we are created in the image of God. We are who we are in our fullness as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people because this is who God made us to be. We make affirmation of the Creator Spirit’s endowment of our identity, rich in culture, language, and bestowal of Country. Our law and teachings are enshrined in the philosophy and ancient wisdom of our Spirit Ancestors. This is who we are and how we live our life – the essence of knowing, being and doing.
