The proven volume by Heiko Augustinus Oberman has been completely revised after a quarter of a century to reflect the latest research. All translations were checked and, if necessary, corrected, the introductions were rewritten and the bibliographical information updated. The source selection was changed in favor of a stronger consideration of the socio-historical developments and expanded in the area of ??the denominational age. Perspectives on gender history and the question of how Christians deal with Jews are also taken into account.
