Shiny foil on the cover and the conclusion of the story enhances children's excitement and enjoyment. The highlight of young Billy's summer is spending time with his uncle, Professor Will, the greatest inventor in the world, and entering the Crazy Invention of the Year competition. This year's theme is Robopets, and Billy has a great idea: they could model their creation on the professor's cute red mongrel, Ketchup. The faithful hound is very patient as Billy and Uncle Will measure him up - with the promise of a tasty treat afterwards! Could this be the year they take first prize...or will they be beaten by Molly and her Aunt Polly? Molly is the meanest girl in Billy's class at school, while Polly is another professor, though she is better known for her underhanded tactics than her inventions. Things don't look too promising when Robo-Pup suffers a splash landing at the park...Young readers will love this thrilling tale, and the fantastic pop-up illustrations will take them right into the heart of the contest.
