Described by Friedrich Engels as "Hell upon Earth", the slums of Cottonopolis were places where damp, disease and deadly violence reigned supreme.From this chaos and poverty emerged the Scuttlers. With more swagger than Oasis and more style than Eric Cantona, these tattooed young men and women were brave, deadly and loyal only to each other and their cobbled kingdoms.Their street wars left men and boys dead and neighbourhoods living in fear.
