Sex in Global History includes material on the imposition of gender norms in China during the 18th and 19th century; race, sex, and gender in Europe before the 20th century; Victorian efforts to regulate sex, gender, and sexuality; and the idea of “new women” around the world who, by the 1920s, proclaimed independence from traditional gender norms.
