Sufism and Modern Science

Sufism and Modern Science sheds light on the relationship between science and Sufism in Islamic history and philosophy. Al-Ghazali, Mevlana Rumi, Hasan al-Basri, Akshemseddin and Ahmed Süreyya Emin Bey are some of the names in the long list of Sufis who contributed to the field of science and philosophy. From the process of converting one element into another to the idea of overcoming time and space, Sufis have silently worked on and contributed to several scientific theories and theorems. Although this was not their main duty, they were pioneers in the positive sciences. Some Sufis used symbolic expressions which could be related to the terms developed by scientists only centuries later.
