Supporting International Mobility Programs : From Internationalization at Home to Student Reintegration

This edited volume examines international mobility as an ongoing learning process beyond study abroad. International mobility is increasingly understood not simply as studying abroad, but as an ongoing educational process that extends across preparation, immersion, reintegration, and continued intercultural engagement. This edited volume explores how educators and institutions support students throughout and beyond the study abroad experience, helping sustain intercultural, linguistic, academic, and professional development over time. Combining international perspectives and diverse case studies, the collection highlights the evolving role of educators in shaping meaningful, transformative, and internationally connected learning experiences in higher education. The volume is organized around three interconnected themes: enhancing students’ study abroad experiences and outcomes, supporting reintegration and post-study abroad development, and advancing cross-cultural collaboration and internationalization in higher education.
