First published in 1997. Routledge is an imprint of Taylor & Francis, an informa company.
This monograph provides a complete overview of the coincidence site lattice (CSL) model and its application to grain boundary engineering. Originally propounded several decades ago, the CSL model has become a cornerstone of boundary structure research, particularly in cubic materials. Dr Randle provides an introduction to grain boundary geometry for the non- - specialist reader (Chapter 2) before introducing work on bicrystals and polycrystals (Chapter 3). An overview and analysis of CSL data is given in Chapter 4. Extensions of the CSL analysis to include the grain boundary plane and grain junctions are considered in Chapter 5. The concluding chapter reviews in detail the application of the CSL model to orientation relationships during recrystallisation, anomalous grain growth in iron silicon alloys and twinning.
