A local mariner and crew set sail with the strange spirit aboard to guide them. They reach the Caribbean island where he met his death, and overpower an enemy in a pitched battle. A female hostage is freed and is desperate for news of her daughter. A hidden treasure is also discovered, and an enemy ship tries to prevent the crew from making off with it. After engaging in a battle at sea, where old scores are settled, the crew think they have got away, but they run into a terrifying storm which then threatens to sink them at their very moment of triumph.
A naval adventure story which shifts between England and The Bahamas. Along the way we meet several new characters including a mysterious shipping magnate. As well as the tale of adventure there is also a love affair and a reunion between mother and daughter. Not only has the crew faced extreme danger when finding the treasure, but they must then decide what to do with it.
