This book provides a comparison of the measurement in time and monetary units of unpaid domestic work between Colombia, Costa Rica, Uruguay and LAC (Latin America countries and the Caribbean) immigrants to the United States of America. By applying a technique that allows its measurement by age and gender, it reveals patterns of unpaid domestic work for all ages and both sexes during the life cycle. The differences across the countries are a mixture of economic conditions, social norms and demographic patterns and provide insight into some of the most important findings such as the importance of unpaid care work and women and girls’ unequal burden in this area across very different countries. As such this book will be of interest to sociologists, demographers, economists and policy makers.
