Truro - The Second Selection: Images of England

Beautiful Georgian Truro has always been a bustling market town although since 1877 it has been graced with the title of ''City''. This second selection of photographs in the Archive Photographs Series gives fascinating insights into the changes that have taken place, not only in the streets and shops but also in the daily lives and work pf the people who live here. We peep into Solomon and Metz, the printers, see the telephone exchange decorated for Christmas and wonder if Mr Lampier managed to sell all his Vim. We attend victory parades, coronations and street parties on our nostaligic journey through these wonderful old photographs and visit schools that have been long since been demolished. Most of the pictures have come from the albums of the people of Truro and have never been published before. Carnicals, choirs, the circus and all manner of sporting events are featured as we take a journey back in time.
