Write to Be Read : Reading, Reflection and Writing

A whole language approach to teaching writing, for high-intermediate to advanced ESL/EFL students.

Write to be Read is a high-intermediate to advanced text designed to teach ESL/EFL students to write convincing English paragraphs and academic essays with greater fluency. A content-based approach leads students through the process of writing with attention to logic, purpose, audience, and patterns of organization. The text concentrates on the academic essay as the basis of other forms of academic writing. High-interest passages come from the major genres of academic and other expository writing, popular periodicals, and literature. The first two lessons are devoted to the paragraph, the next five to essays, and the final one to writing answers to essay exams. An appendix provides exercises on specific grammar problems for those students needing additional practice.
