While based in New York, London and Paris, the AmericanSean Thomas constantly travels and photographs around theworld. His images for fashion magazines are ephemeral by nature.He thus decided to collect them in a yearbook, where each yearhe gathers unpublished images, various shootings, and personalworks – the personal diary of a fashion photographer who likesto tell stories.Sean Thomas was born in 1970 in Omaha, the largestcity in Nebraska. He studied art initially before moving toNew York in 2000 where he began working as creative directorfor the record label Rykodisc before joining Warner Music.He thus had the opportunity to work with pop icons likeDavid Bowie and Elvis Costello, groups including the Talking Headand more. After about ten years in the music industry, Thomasturned to photography. His first series for the magazine i-Din 2008 captured the early menswear creations of the youngfashion designer Thom Browne.The creative director Nathaniel Kilcer, one of Thomas’sclose friends, introduced him to Bruce Weber. In 2013,Here and Beyond: A Nebraska Story, a 42-page photographicseries by Thomas in three parts, was featured in All-American,the journal published by Weber. Thomas likes to tell stories,whether real or imagined, and enjoys combining fashion andreporting in his commissions for American and British Vogue,Holiday, Self Service, L’Étiquette, Modern Weekly and Vanity Fair,among other publications. Between his frequent trips,all giving rise to extensive portfolios of images from Centraland South America to Cuba, Ethiopia and India, he worksfor leading fashion labels such as Ralph Lauren, Massimo Dutti,Tommy Hilfiger, Chloé, Stella McCartney, Michael Kors andVictoria’s Secret.
