This book focuses on advances in education. Chapter 1 investigates the integration of the Metaverse - a 3D virtual world - with EE, spotlighting its transformative potential in teaching and learning. Chapter 2 focuses on a case study that discusses how the Broward College mathematics department can assist students and faculty in two of our pathway areas, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and the Health Sciences. Chapter 3 discusses the potential for transformative advancements in teaching and learning practices, ultimately leading to enhanced student success and societal advancement. Chapter 4 applies an intersectional approach with Family Services of Peel’s Equity, Anti-Oppression and Anti-Violence Framework to draw conclusions between stereotypes originating in the media to educational, economic, social, public, and health consequences for Black youth. Chapter 5 explains the assimilation of Scilab, an open-source software, into engineering education and research. Chapter 6 presents a project that focuses on creation and integration of domain-specific knowledge graphs based on Semantic Web standards and technologies, as well as the use of machine learning algorithms and Pareto optimization techniques. Chapter 7 investigates the opportunities and challenges associated with integrating ChatGPT, a large language model, in the English as a Second Language (ESL) writing classroom. Chapter 8 aims to improve 21st-century skills with the inquiry levels model in accounting subjects, and uses a qualitative approach, with Classroom Action Research used as the research method.
